Launched in 2012, the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) is a global healthcare community dedicated to capturing and disseminating the best evidence-based ideas and practices. WISH is an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) and is under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, its Chairperson.

Through international summits and a range of ongoing initiatives, WISH is creating a global community of leading Innovators in healthcare policy, research, and industry. Together, they are harnessing the power of innovation to overcome the world’s most urgent healthcare challenges and inspire other stakeholders to action. WISH has been at the epicenter of promoting the empowerment of nursing through its involvement as a founding partner of the global Nursing Now campaign in 2018.

Since then, in collaboration with local and global partners, WISH has hosted several leadership courses, symposiums, and workshops with the goal of having the voices of nurses heard when it comes to healthcare policymaking. In 2018, WISH also published its report titled “Nursing and Universal Health Coverage (UHC),” which describes how strengthening nursing and midwifery as part of the wider health workforce will enable the rapid, high quality, and cost-effective scaling up of UHC. This year it produced a report on the role nurses play in delivering health equity - a topic that will be discussed at a session during this year’s ICN Congress.
